Rev7101 Characteristics
PreciseCore™ Rev7101 is a flux cored, gas shielded electrode intended to weld carbon steels, such as ASTM A36, A285, A515-Grade 70, and A516-Grade 70, in all positions. While these are examples of the more common grades, PreciseCore™ Rev7101 is actually suitable for welding most carbon steels requiring a minimum tensile strength of 72,000 psi. PreciseCore™ Rev7101 is designed for optimum performance with a shielding gas blend of 75-80% Argon/Balance Carbon Dioxide; the use of less argon, up to 100% carbon dioxide, will decrease alloying agents and cause mechanical properties to degrade. If deviating from the recommended shielding gas, qualification tests should be conducted to verify the mechanical properties and chemical composition of the deposited weld metal.
In terms of welding performance, RevWires’ patented flux filling and drawing technology actually provides for arc transfer characteristics wherein welding with carbon dioxide resembles the small droplet transfer associated with the argon/carbon dioxide blends. Revolutionary mixing and feeding processes ensure that every inch, literally, of our wire contains consistent fill, which maintains the same chemical analysis and performance weld bead after weld bead.
The concept of this new technology is simple, and in function it’s quite technical. Various controls are present throughout the forming, filling, and drawing process that constantly monitor strip/core ratios, fill percentage, wire diameter, and many other checkpoint variables. Adjustments are made “on the fly”, and this is verified by independent study. The result is every inch of wire has exactly the same strip/core ratio by weight, core ingredient dispersion is consistent throughout, and the analysis and performance of each weld bead is identical. There are no flux voids, and we have guaranteed proof-of-product quality with DCQA.
Our electrode’s slag system is specially formulated for a high melting point, providing very quick freezing and allowing welding to be performed in all positions. PreciseCore™ Rev7101 has a wider range of operating parameters; amperage/voltage settings can be adjusted low enough for all position welds on thin gauge steel and high enough for welding heavier plate sections. This product will outperform competitive E71T-1’s at elevated wire feed speeds, such as 700-1,000 ipm with a 0.045 inch electrode. The arc transfer is quite smooth, thanks to small droplet transfer characteristics, attributed to our patented manufacturing technology. Fume generation rates are comparable to the “low fume” products in the marketplace, and, in fact, provide economic and ergonomic advantages, such as welder comfort and longer life of fume extraction filters.
PreciseCore™ Rev7101 provides a revolutionary experience in effortless, uninterrupted feeding, smooth arc transfer, low spatter emissions, and consistency in core ingredients from inch to inch that has not existed before this technology.
Rev7101 Applications
PreciseCore™ Rev7101 is intended to weld carbon steels, ranging from as thin as 10 gauge up to heavier plate sections, in all positions. This wide operating range makes PreciseCore™ Rev7101 an excellent choice for a variety of applications, including structural steel, heavy equipment, mining machinery, tanks, barges, and shipbuilding.
Our patented manufacturing technology has eliminated the variation in strip/core weight ratios that has existed in all cored wires up to now. This means there is no arc “wander”, no intermittent small droplet to large droplet transfer variation, and no variation in the homogeneity of the core ingredients. These factors add up to better welding performance in terms of consistency throughout every inch of wire on every spool. Better performance means ease of welder training, more consistent mechanical properties, and more assurance that each weld bead is the same metallurgically.
